Special Commemorative Event to pay tribute to the late Sam
Nujoma, founding President of Namibia.

Distinguished colleagues,
It is both a profound honor and a privilege to stand before you today to deliver the
following remarks on behalf of the African Group.
This occasion allows us to come together in solidarity and respect as we pay tribute
to the remarkable legacy of one of Africa's most esteemed leaders, President Sam
Nujoma of Namibia.
As the founding president of Namibia, President Nujoma was not merely a political
figure; he was a beacon of hope and inspiration who played an instrumental role in
leading the country’s arduous struggle for independence. Through his tireless
efforts, he transformed the dreams of freedom and self-determination into a vibrant
and tangible reality for his people.
President Nujoma was not only a fierce advocate for the rights of his people but
also an embodiment of the spirit of resilience, strength, and unwavering
determination that resonates throughout our beautiful continent.
His legacy is marked by his steadfast commitment to the ideals of justice, equality,
and unity, which continues to inspire generations, not only in Namibia but across
Africa and the entire world. His life’s work stands as a powerful reminder of what
can be achieved when individuals dedicate themselves to the noble causes of their
communities.Under his visionary leadership, Namibia emerged from the oppressive shadows of colonial rule, embracing the principles of democracy and sustainable development.
The transformation of Namibia under his guidance is a testament to the power of
perseverance and the enduring belief that a brighter future is not only possible but
achievable through collective effort and unwavering resolve.
As we take a moment to reflect on President Nujoma’s invaluable contributions to
his nation and our continent, let us also seize this opportunity to renew our
commitment to the values he so passionately stood for.
We must continue to bravely fight against injustice, inequality, and all forms of
oppression, striving tirelessly to create a continent where every individual,
regardless of their background, can thrive and realize their full potential.
In honoring his memory today, let us carry forward his visionary ideals of unity
and cooperation among African nations.
