Mr. President,

  1. I have the honor to deliver this statement on behalf of the African Group.

  1. The African Group strongly supports the priorities presented by the South African Presidency, reflecting the most pressing concerns and aspirations of developing countries, particularly across the African continent.

  1. The priorities just highlighted are strongly align with key areas of focus for the African Union, as reflected in the Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want.

  1. The focus on disaster resilience, debt sustainability and a just energy transition addresses the structural challenges we face.

  1. The African Group places strong value on the intention to review the cost of capital and to deepen the Compact with Africa. These are key steps to ensure that international financial flows serve sustainable development and economic justice.

Mr. President,

  1. As we commemorate the 80th anniversary of the United Nations this year, it is essential to reaffirm our shared commitment to the principles of the UN Charter, to effective multilateralism, and to an international order rooted in mutual respect, cooperation, and equity.

  1. The African philosophy of Ubuntu, which underpins the wisdom of the African ancestral approach, reminds us that our humanity is interdependent. No nation can achieve lasting prosperity in isolation.

To conclude, Mr. President,

  1. The African Group expresses its full support for the South African Presidency and stands ready to work constructively with all partners, in the spirit of solidarity and collective action.

I thank you.
